5 Reasons to Take Time to Recharge, Especially if You're Too Busy!
When I started The Orphaned Earring in 2011, I invested thousands of hours and hundreds of dollars because I felt that I had a good charitable idea that could not only help children in need but also fulfill my desire of having a greater purpose in life. It was because of that feeling that I worked non-stop to materialize my dream and without knowing it, I easily fell in the trap of overdoing it. I made the mistake of working so hard that I lost sight of myself.
At some point I dreaded having to work for The Orphaned Earring. I don't know how something I LOVED so much became something that caused pain and tears. I knew that starting any project would mean no sleep for weeks, maybe months. I knew it was time to care for myself if I wanted to continue helping our orphan kids. I now purposely take the necessary steps to recharge.
In my recent recharge quest, I took a short trip to Santa Barbara and KIA Motors, who understands how style, comfort and having access to the best technology is part of what helps you recharge, offered me the KIA Optima experience. For me, taking a long drive and enjoying the scenery is what helps me disconnect from work. To physical get away and enjoy nature, sun and my family does it for me. Leaving the work at work is one of the most important recovery strategies--and the hardest. If you're still obsessing about work when you're off the job, no recovery can take place. Detaching from work with diversions at night reduces fatigue and promotes positive effects the next morning at work.
